Sable at Navy Pier

Brintons partnered with KOO Architecture & Interior Design firm to produce 13,000+ SY Axminster carpet for the new build of Sable at Navy Pier.

The brand new hotel finished completion in 2021 as the first to be built at the Chicago Navy Pier. Each of the hotel’s 223 guest rooms feature a window seat to the city’s skyline and Lake Michigan.

KOO Senior Interior Designer Megan Walters personally worked with Brintons on the project to create the custom Axminster flooring for all guest rooms and corridors to fit the design narrative which celebrates the unique location and its historic past.

Named after the naval training ship, Sable at Navy Pier's interior design pulls inspiration from subtle nautical cues off the pier’s port such as weathered brass, ship building materials, and the use of smooth curves much like a ship’s interior cabin. The color palette presents mixed neutrals with highlights of blues and blue-greens reflecting the colors of the famous Michigan Lake which feels like an extension from the waves and colors of the guestroom carpet. Walking out through the moody corridors also give guests the experience of crew members walking through the sacred passageway of a ship.

It was so easy to communicate my ideas to the Brintons Team which they were able to interpret and turn visuals around very quickly. They also found the most cost-effective way to 'book match' the Guestroom carpet layouts in the seaming diagrams to get the most out of the goods with the least amount of waste possible.
