Mercure Hotel Newport
Opening as part of an expert renovation project to build an exciting new vibrant hotel for the city, the Mercure Hotel Newport interior inspiration was guided by the Newport Transporter bridge. The commanding structure of the bridge provided a fabulous design direction with images, shapes and impressions appearing in many aspects of the hotel and a key feature in our bespoke Axminster carpet design. With 135 flexible bedrooms and striking views across the city, the hotel is an ideal choice for travellers.
Our client was keen for the design of the hotel to have a strong reference to a local landmark. The Newport Transporter bridge was our focus and this design was interwoven through the public areas and into the bedroom suites. We worked closely with Brinton’s designers to create the contrast we wanted and the pattern leads guests up through the 15 floors of the hotel, adding interest as one moves through the building. With the option to change the carpet colours, this allowed the conference space to have warmer tones running through the pattern, creating a luxury inviting space. The quality of the product has stood up in these high traffic areas and still looks like new two years after being fitted.
