Ellenborough Park

Ellenborough Park is the Cotswolds' most critically-acclaimed luxury hotel. Gloucestershire’s only AA Five Star-rated property is nestled at the base of Cleeve Hill, overlooking Cheltenham Racecourse. Brintons is delighted to announce its involvement on such a prestigious project working with interior and architectural designers ADS Design, Brintons provided custom carpets for the restaurant, private dining rooms, staircases and function areas.

The Grade-ll listed 15th century country estate, is built in the early Tudor style from Cotswold stone, with architectural features of the times such as fairytale turrets, stone arches and towers. Expanded over the years, the original part of the hotel dates back to 1455 and embodies traditional English stately glamour.

ADS have produced a divine decor which marries eclectic opulence and English chintz to layer in a contemporary yet luxurious feel, creating an English grand country house vibe that has been loved and lived in. Brintons designers Jane Bradley-Bain and Kay Jones joined forces with Rachel Eaton at ADS design to develop custom carpet designs for the restaurant, private dining rooms, staircases and function areas.

The country-inspired decor is elegant with a neutral colour palette punctuated by subdued greens, sunny yellows, muted reds and aqua blues which draws inspiration from nature. Carpets developed for the function room areas have a contemporary Cotswold style, featuring flourishes of floral prints, intricate statement shades of earth tones and yellows throughout proving geometric formality.

The restaurant and private dining rooms feature Tudor fireplaces, stained glass Oriel windows and original wood panelling, bespoke carpets were developed for these areas inspired by the illustrations featured in the award winning Timorous Beasties First Weave collection. The designs echo the original features of the house ensuring that the history of the rooms is still evident. Soft teals, warm ruby reds and sophisticated greys bring a feeling of elegance and warmth to the space complimenting the rich oak wood panelling.

Surrounded by 90 acres of countryside just across from Cheltenham Racecourse, Ellenborough Park has a wealth of history, is listed in The Times’ top 30 most romantic hotels in the country and were in The Telegraph’s top 30 best country house hotels.

Brintons designed and supplied three individual carpet designs to the Ellensborough Park project, all of which were sensitive to the period style and acclaim of the historic building.
