Blue Hills Rise

Jodie Johnson and Judy Clarkson, the owners, developers and operators of Blue Hills Residences, worked with architectural and interior design practice, FMSA, to reinvent the concept of retirement living in Melbourne. The result was the creation of a high-end, luxurious lifestyle resort reserved exclusively for retirees aged 55 years and over. Blue Hills Rise comprises 16 apartments and offers a broad range of lifestyle services for residents and visitors. At the heart of the development is a Country Club, for which Brintons was commissioned to provide Axminster carpet for the communal and dining areas, library, hallways, boardroom and offices.

For a job of this size, it can be really hard for people to picture the finished result and the scale of the design. Brintons were really helpful producing carpet samples to show the actual colours and design and various coloured prints, using our architectural drawings, which showed the layout and scale of the finished design and really helped everyone to visualise the finished product. Initially some people were worried the selection was a bit wild; the design, the scale and even the colours. But the final outcome has been very successful. The scale, design and colours work really well in the space and add an exciting and dramatic element to the Country Club.
