Brintons proudly presents our Self Expression Fall 2026 collection from Senior Designer Caroline Atherton.

InGrain is a deeply personal exploration of craftsmanship, shaped by a lifelong appreciation for the skill and artistry of woodworking.

Across nine designs, these influences come together with the intricate art of marquetry. Natural woodgrain, hand-cut veneers and interlocking forms inspire a collection where geometry meets organic movement and carefully constructed patterns are softened by the character and imperfection of the material.

Through layered shapes, shifting grain and rhythmic compositions, InGrain translates the principles of woodcraft into contemporary pattern, balancing precision with irregularity and traditional artistry with modern expression.

About Caroline Atherton, Designer of InGrain

With 23 years of experience in textile and hospitality design, Caroline brings a wealth of creativity, knowledge and passion to her work.

After graduating from the University of Huddersfield with a BSc (Hons) in Textile Design, Caroline began her career as a bedlinen designer before moving into the world of hospitality carpet design in 2005. Since then, she has worked on a diverse range of luxury and high-profile projects, developing a strong understanding of design, production and the creative process.

When she is not designing, Caroline is happiest spending time with her two boys and travelling with her family. She has a lifelong love of music, regularly enjoys live concerts and is always looking for new artists and sounds to discover. Her love for fashion and textiles remains as strong as ever, and she feels incredibly fortunate to have built a career that allows her creativity to continually evolve.
