Graumann's Chinese Theatre, LA, USA
Behr Browers Architects Inc. were recently honoured by the Society of American Registered Architects for the historical restoration of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the world-famous landmark which stands at the heart of Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
A key feature in the lobby is the extraordinary dragon rug, a 22’ x 38’ custom designed pattern in 7 row wool axminster, provided by Brintons USA. This rug is flanked by two equally impressive 22’ square rugs that depict an elaborate firebird motif.
The theatre’s original designs were meticulously researched and, with further inspiration from Behr Browers, the approved drawings and colour palettes were then constructed in line with the client’s exacting requirements.
The balance of this historic theatre was then carpeted with approximately 2,500sq yards of Brintons woven axminster carpet.
