Hilton Vancouver, WA USA

Brintons, the world’s leading producer of custom woven Axminster carpet, salutes the efforts of Hilton Hotels Corporation for its milestone accomplishments in sustainability.

The Hilton Vancouver Washington Hotel is the first hotel in the world to earn both Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Green Seal certifications. It was recently labeled as “the greenest hotel in U.S.” by Meeting News magazine*.

“We applaud Hilton’s environmental initiatives and we are most pleased to be a part of this momentous accomplishment,” states Jonathan Young, Brintons’ CEO in the US. “Not only are our Axminster products, which are used from the lobby to the Board room, the most luxurious and durable, they also support Hilton’s global sustainability goals.”

The 226-room, 10-suite boutique hotel, located 10 miles from Portland, Oregon, first earned its LEED certification in 2005. According to Terri Hardin, editor of Meeting News, it was one of only six such designated hotels in the U.S.

The Vancouver, WA property earned its Green Seal in the spring of 2008 by adopting such environmental practices as minimizing and reducing waste, eliminating hazardous substances and implementing an environmentally and socially sensitive purchasing policy. The hotel’s 30,000 square foot meeting space is carpeted with Brintons’ custom woven Axminster carpet. Its contemporary, upscale interior design scheme is projected in the etched glass effect throughout the floor designs, combining whimsical floral motifs with geometric shapes and subtle underlying striations. The 12-color palette includes warm shades of rust, orange, greens and gold with steely blue accents. Circular and medallion rug insets incorporate field patterns used throughout the lobby, pre-function areas, meeting rooms and ballrooms.

Brintons wool-rich carpet can provide credit toward LEED certification as a rapidly renewable material. They also meet CRI’s Green Label Plus standards and can significantly reduce waste of premature floor covering replacement because of woven carpet’s exceptionally long life cycle.
