Fairmont, Jaipur - India

Fairmont Jaipur is an ode to the pink city, Jaipur, through awe inspiring architecture and decor. The hotel design is grand and has been inspired by Mughal and Rajput architectural styles.

This luxury hotel is nestled amongst the majestic Aravalli hills, all 199 rooms and suites are elegantly appointed, to reflect a perfect blend of traditional Rajasthani décor and modern amenities. The whole hotel has been built around the symphony of space with everything lavishly laid out which transforms the guests into a bygone era.

Clive and Minna, the design team from Randolph Gray Design wanted custom made 12 colors Axminster carpets echoing the specified time period. Brintons were able to accomplish their vision and create a carpet suited to the grandeur of the place. The carpets are spread in the corridors, ballroom, two junior ballrooms and several meeting rooms.

The carpeted areas were huge spaces, and the scale and detail had to match this proportion as well as represent the design direction which was of the glamorous ancient Mughal era. Brinton’s designers and planners had to do a fair bit of work to get the complexity and texture of hand-woven vegetable dyed carpets that we wanted to achieve to avoid the space looking flat and modern. Corridor runners are factory woven to appear more like handmade luxurious palace carpets. It was an unusual challenge for the team more accustomed to free form modern design.
